Privacy, Cookies & Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: June 12, 2026. Plain-language summary first, the legal version below. The short version: we collect as little as we can get away with, we make money from affiliate links, and we tell you when we do.

Who we are

MyNextPlan Media Ltd., 1188 Hamilton Street, Suite 302, Vancouver, BC V6B 2S2, Canada. BC Corporation No. BC1298473. Contact: hello@mynextplan.com, +1 (604) 555-0193.

What we collect

If you just read the site: nothing personal. Aggregate page-view counts and an approximate, truncated IP for spam filtering. If you subscribe to the newsletter: your email address and the date you joined. If you write to us: whatever you send us, kept for as long as the conversation is useful and then some (we’re honest — the inbox gets cleaned annually, not daily).

Cookies

We set a small number of cookies: one that remembers your cookie preference for 6 months (strictly necessary), one that keeps you logged in if you ever create a commenting account, and analytics cookies that record page views in aggregate. Third parties — including card issuers whose “Apply now” buttons you click — may set their own cookies once you leave our site. Their policies govern from that click onward.

Affiliate disclosure (the part regulators care about)

Some links on MyNextPlan are affiliate links, mostly for financial products. If you apply for and are approved for a product through one of those links, the issuer or broker may pay us a commission at no additional cost to you. Commissions never determine our rankings, scores, or which cards appear in a comparison — our editorial team writes the reviews before anyone looks at the commercial terms, and the top pick on our card page pays us less than the runner-up. We think that’s funny, too.

Credit report note

Our credit report guide describes how to obtain your reports from Equifax and TransUnion. We occasionally link to third-party credit monitoring services; some of those links are affiliate links and some are not (they don’t all offer programs). Where a link is an affiliate link, the page says so near the link.

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and PIPEDA)

Because we’re Canadian and many of our readers aren’t, we honour the most protective of PIPEDA, GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA for every visitor, regardless of where you live. You may request: a copy of the personal data we hold about you; correction of inaccurate data; deletion of your data (newsletter subscribers and email correspondents, this means you); confirmation that we’ve done any of the above; and, if you’re a California resident, information about any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information (short answer: we don’t sell it, though affiliate partners set cookies, which California counts as sharing — you can block those cookies any time). Email privacy@mynextplan.com and we’ll respond within 30 days, usually within three business days.

Do not track / Global Privacy Control

Our site honours the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal: if your browser sends it, analytics cookies are not set. No configuration needed on your end.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page and the date above whenever our practices change. Material changes get a note in the Friday newsletter. If you have questions, contact us — a human answers, usually Dana.
